Dance and fitness has been apart of me since my youth; from ballet, tap, and jazz as a child; to line dancing, kickboxing, dance classes, and high intensity interval training as an adult. Exercise has kept me grounded and help to manage the sometimes stressful demands of being an educator. Life challenges has taught me that fitness is the key to a healthier me, both physically and mentally. Unsatisfied with my overall health and well being, I began a journey of weight loss transformation. This journey led me to becoming a certified group fitness instructor. AfroCardio was birthed as a result of teaching and creating Afro centric dance fitness moves and routines when I decided to create my own fitness brand. AfroCardio is a total body workout that uses cardio training dance moves to shred your core, strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, while incorporating some culturally accurate African Dance moves done to Afro Beats/Drum Beats/Hip Hop/ Dance Hall.

Welcome to your journey of becoming the healthiest version of yourself! This fitness affirmation journal was carefully curated to empower you to take your wellness journey to the next level. Studies have shown we are motivated, uplifted, and encouraged by the things we tell ourselves. By saying and writing these affirmations, you are placing them in your subconscious mind. You can shape your reality by speaking affirmations to your present and future self. Your subconscious mind houses your thoughts and creates the reality of your physical transformation. It all starts in the mind. If you can think it, then you can bring what is it you desire to fruition. Positive thoughts bring about positive change. This includes your body; both mentally and physically.
While this journal focuses on both the mental and physical, the ultimate goal is to see the physical change in your body over a period of time. The purpose of this journal is to have you affirm yourself so much that you talk yourself into a healthy transformation. In addition to saying and writing the daily affirmations, you will also have the space to answer a reflection prompt. The reflection prompt is the opportunity to think about how you plan to incorporate the change and/or how the change is showing up for you. There are blank pages at the end of the journal to add additional thoughts to your reflection, jot down your workouts, record your meals, or just journal about your process in general.
This journal consists of 35 affirmations to use daily. The affirmations are broken down into five affirmation categories: Intention, Body, Transformation, Gratitude, and Acknowledgement. It is suggested you start the affirmations in the order they are listed in under each category, as this will first mentally prepare you for your journey. You may start on any day.
